The world’s largest longliner is ready for duty

Saturday 29. October 2011, the world’s largest longliner was given its name in a naming ceremony at Borgundvåg, Norway. Several hundred people showed up to celebrate the new vessel, and the ceremony was completed by an open boat show. The design is MT 1114 by Marin Teknikk AS.

M.S. Frøyanes will, after the first trial fishing period, head for the Barents Sea looking for cod, haddock and catfish.The vessel will also produce hermetic liver, especially for the Russian market.

The vessel is the world’s largest longliner and is designed by Marin Teknikk AS, and keeps a total length of 60 meters and a breadth of 14 meters. It is equipped with diesel electric propulsion and designed for low fuel consumption and excellent sea keeping. High comfort for the crew is ensured by low noise and vibration in hull and superstructure.

M.S. Frøyanes is equipped with Line Hauling moon pool for improved efficiency and safer working environment. The vessel is also equipped with the new Mustad’s Mag Pac Autoline System with a capacity of 70 000 fishing hooks. A filet processing plant with freezing in freeze tunnel and/or plate freezers is also arranged on the fabric deck, in addition to a cannery with processing equipment for production of canned products. The vessel has a capacity of 28 persons, with great facilities as cinema, gymnasium and solarium.

M.S. Frøyanes is built by Tersan Shipyard in Turkey, and are fully equipped in Turkey.
