Naming Ceremony for MT 6015 “Olympic Orion”, Multipurpose Platform Supply Vessel

The naming ceremony for Olympic Orion, yard no 350 from Kleven Maritime, was held in Geiranger Fjord in the municipality of Stranda, Norway, on Saturday, June 23 2012.

This Multi Purpose Field Supply & Construction Vessel of the MT6015, designed by Marin Teknikk AS, is 94 m long, 20 m wide and with accomodation for 60 persons. The vessel is prepared for helideck and cranes, and can also do subsea operations. The vessel will enter the spot market.

The vessel represents a new generation of environmentally friendly and operational state of the art multipurpose vessels, where much attention is put on fuel economy, low emissions and large capacities both above and below deck. Class notation Ice C provides for suitability in northern areas, and the vessel is equipped for oil recovery operations (NOFO 2009).

The MT6015 was built in accordance with the new SPS code, and includes facilities that will make the vessel very well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.

The vessel is second in a series of three vessels of the MT6015 design delivered from Kleven Verft to Olympic Shipping this year. “Olympic Commander” was delivered in January, and “Olympic Taurus” is planned to be delivered in November.
